1. Who may sell

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must have the legal authority to advertise and sell the horse.
  • You must accurately declare whether you act as a private seller or as a business seller.
  • Breeders, trainers or frequent sellers are not automatically private or business — declare truthfully for each listing.

2. Truthful and complete information

  • Provide truthful, current and sufficiently complete information.
  • State the horse's identity, age, sex, origin, registration and pedigree accurately where such claims are made.
  • Disclose known material health conditions.
  • Disclose known injuries or limitations relevant to a buyer.
  • Disclose known material behavioural problems.
  • Avoid misleading omissions and false or unverifiable claims.

3. Pricing and VAT

  • Provide accurate pricing and currency.
  • Use VAT status accurately (excl. VAT or incl. VAT).
  • Use "price on request" accurately and not to hide unreasonable pricing behaviour.

4. Contact information

  • Keep contact information current.
  • Choose only contact methods you actually monitor.
  • Do not include third-party contact information without permission.

5. Media rights

  • Own or have permission to use the text, images and videos you upload.
  • Obtain appropriate permission for identifiable people appearing in media.
  • Do not upload content that infringes third-party rights.

6. Prohibited listings and conduct

  • No fraudulent, duplicate or prohibited listings.
  • No fake pedigree or ownership claims.
  • No concealed material health issues.
  • No listings that violate animal-welfare, marketing, consumer or sales law.
  • Mark the horse as sold or remove the listing when it is no longer available.
  • Cooperate with reasonable moderation and evidence requests.

7. Business sellers

  • Provide legal business name, organisation or registration number, country of registration, business postal address, business contact email, and VAT number where applicable.
  • Update your business details if they change; material changes will return the listing to pending review.
  • Comply with applicable consumer-protection rules when selling to consumers.

8. Moderation and its limits

Hestasales reviews listings before publication for form and obvious rule compliance. Moderation is:

  • not a veterinary examination;
  • not confirmation of legal ownership;
  • not confirmation of identity or pedigree;
  • not a guarantee of accuracy.

Buyers should inspect the horse, request and verify relevant documentation, consider an independent veterinary examination, and use an appropriate written purchase agreement. The final contract and payment occur outside Hestasales.

9. Responsibility

The seller remains responsible for statements and omissions in the listing and for any agreement made with a buyer. These Seller Rules are consistent with, and supplemented by, the Terms of Service.
